Introduction to Electrical Meters (March 20)

This course introduces the fundaental principles of electricty and provides hands-on training for the safe and effective use of a digital multimeter as a diagnostic tool. Participants will learn how to measure voltage, current and resistance, understand the functions and controls, compare clamp-on and stand meters and apply best practices for electrical trouble shooting. 

Course Topics:

• Review the basics or electricity and introduce the functions and use of a standard multimeter as a diagnostic tool
• What to consider when purchasing a new meter
• Display, Functions, Switches and Buttons
• Clamp-on vs. Standard meter
• Learn to use the three most common settings: voltage, amperage, and continuity/resistance
