OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry Course (March 2-3)

The OSHA 10 Hour Maritime Industry course awards the 10-Hour certification card and meets all of the mandated regulations for the Maritime Industry (OSHA Code of Federal Regulations 29 CFR 1915) course in a format that specifically addresses the challenges and environmental conditions specific to the shipyards. In addition, shipyard specific regulations and issues are covered in depth. Instructors are authorized by OSHA endorsed certification programs. Cards are issued through the Instructor's certifying body. All book, material and certification costs are covered in the course fee.

Security Committee Meeting

Guests will be from MARMC Industrial Security and NNSY Industrial Security with discussions on current issues and common concerns in the areas of badging, the CNIC Contractor Web List versus the 179-day list, updated SECNAV Form, and more. 

Human Resources Committee Meeting

Our presenter will be Justin Steil from UBS, who will speak to us about what our member companies’ HR professionals need to know about employee retirement plans.

Contracts Committee Meeting

This meeting will be our quarterly engagement session with the leadership team from MARMC. Items that will be discussed include the FAR and CPAR re-writes, MARMC’s reorganization and obtaining back-up data for quoted prices.  Bring your questions!

Safety & Health Seminar Planning Committee Meeting

The Safety & Health Planning Committee meets the Third Thursday of every month. The meetings are  held at the VSRA Office, 101 W. Main Street, Suite 5500 (5th Floor East), Norfolk, VA  23510.  We are located in the World Trade Center building.  E-mails will be sent out with links to register to attend the Safety & Health Seminar Planning Committee meetings.

Parking is available in the Town Point Parking Garage on Main Street directly across the street from the World Trade Center building.  Please bring your parking ticket with you for validation.

Cableway Improvement Program (CIP) Installation, Repair and Inspection (March 16-20)

This course is under the oversight of HII Technical Solutions and upon successful completion attendees will receive a NAVSEA Cableway Certification card. The cableway program provides NAVSEA Cableway training and certification to students.

20th Annual Ship Repair Digital Innovation Competition

Ship repair is a 6.4 billion dollar industry in Hampton Roads – and provides career opportunities for more than 60,000 workers in the region! The Virginia Ship Repair Foundation is sponsoring a LEGO Ship Repair Industry Awareness Competition for middle school students. The purpose of the competition is to promote ship repair industry awareness, while increasing student’s competitive mathematical, analytical and conceptual skills.

Introduction to Electrical Meters (March 20)

This course is under the oversight of Advance Technology Institute (ATI) and upon successful completion attendees will receive a certificate of completion. Students will be familiar with reading and using electrical wiring schematics and diagrams.

NAVSEA Basic Paint Inspector Certification (March 23-27)

VSRA is one of the few organizations authorized to instruct this very specialized course.

Intermediate use of Electrical Meters (March 27)

This course is under the oversight of Advance Technology Institute (ATI) and upon successful completion attendees will receive a certificate of completion. Students will expand their knowledge with advanced features of a Digital Multimeter.
